John Bergh has over 30 years of nationwide commercial property experience and has specialized in the leasing of regional shopping centers, strip centers and specialty retail projects. He has transactional experience in over three million square feet of retail leasing with tenants such as Madison Fresh Market, Rare Steakhouse, Colectivo Coffee, Panera Bread, Anytime Fitness and numerous local and regional retailers. John was Senior Vice President of Retail Leasing for JMB Retail Properties/Urban Retail Properties in Chicago, one of the nation’s largest owners of retail centers. John directed their retail leasing efforts throughout the Central United States. He also worked as a Senior Vice President for Urban Retail Properties in Boston, MA gaining additional experience with retailers and properties in New England, New York, Washington DC, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Southeast United States. John also enjoyed nine very successful years with the Siegel-Gallagher Company where he was Senior Vice President for Retail. During this time, he received Broker of the Year and Deal of the Year awards. In March of 2013, John established White Box Commercial Property Group with the goal of providing the best possible service to his clients and customers. Since then John has received four additional Commercial Brokers Group “Retail Deal of the Year” awards and White Box CPG has become well established as a premier retail service provider.

John’s assignments have included a vertical mall in Midtown Manhattan; traditional malls; strip and community centers; life style centers; a casino; street retail; and acquisition, disposition and repositioning strategies. He is also currently working with retailers in tenant representation assignments handling single and multiple site requirements. Clients have included J.P. Morgan, Blackstone Realty, Met Life, Oaktree Capitol, Argent Properties and JMB Group Trust. In Wisconsin, John has leased and directed the leasing of Northridge and Southridge Malls in Milwaukee, regional centers in Green Bay and Beaver Dam, as well as numerous strip and community centers in the Southern part of the state. In Madison, he has represented Urban Land Interests (Block 89), Executive Management, Inc. (University Square), Core Spaces (The Hub on State Street), American Campus Communities (The James), T Wall Properties and several other prominent developers. John also currently represents a number of best-in-class retailers, including a specialty grocery chain and several restaurants. John also sold an assemblage of three significant properties just off Madison’s Capitol Square for which he received his 4th “Deal of The Year Award’.

John Bergh is a University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Commercial Brokers Group.

His proactive approach and unwavering commitment sets him apart. Jamani has lived in Central Madison for 15+ years. When he’s not making deals at White Box CPG, he is out riding his bike or in the gym. He was a previous 2x State Champion in Road and Criterium bicycle racing.
